"I Just Can’t Wait!"
By Glen Knabe

You have probably heard that phrase a time or two. “I just can’t wait!” It exemplifies an overwhelming feeling of joy and excitement. How many children feel it around this time of year over the holidays. How many kids can’t wait until their birthday. How many students can’t wait until school is out and how many parents can’t wait until they go back to school. And what about vacation? Yeah, “I just can’t wait!”

I remember one day I was visiting a nursing home and conducting the mid-week bible study. It always amazes me how the people there can hardly talk or look up at me when I speak to them but when a gospel song is sung, they can sing every word and never miss a beat. On this particular occasion I was using different passages from the book of Revelation to talk about the fact that God is in control and what He has prepared for those who love Him. Revelation 21, beginning at verse 3, talks about the fact that there will be no more tears. God Himself will wipe away every tear from our eyes. There will be no more crying, no more mourning, no more pain, no more dying because the old order of things will have passed away. What do you think the response was? One elderly lady put it like this, “Oh, I just can’t wait!”

What a perspective! We do enjoy the things that God has blessed us with here, but “Oh, I just can’t wait!” I just can’t wait to see what God has prepared for us on the other side. The beauties of this earth astound us at times and God has created them all for us to enjoy, the righteous as well as the unrighteous. But “no eyes has seen, no ear has heard, no mind can conceive what the Lord has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Cor. 2:9). How much more enjoyable could this life be if lived with the overwhelming feeling of joy and excitement and anticipation of what is waiting for us in heaven?

  • God gave us ten times the amount of money that we give him on Sunday?
  • God took away the blessings for which we had not given thanks?
  • Jesus was going to preach at church Sunday night?

  Mistakes                  "A Word from Ryan"
“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my professional career and have lost over 300 games. Twenty-seven times my team trusted me to make the game-winning shot — and I missed.” “I have lost count of all the mistakes I’ve made on a basketball court.” Who made those statements? None other than the greatest basketball player who ever lived — Michael Jordan. Every body makes mistakes. Even Hannah Montana sings a song called Everybody Makes Mistakes. Even the Apostles made mistakes. Take Peter for example, he denied Jesus three times as Jesus said he would (Matthew 27:65). Yes Peter messed up, but Jesus gave him another chance and Peter went on to do great things in God’s Kingdom. We all have messed up and I have messed up royally. But I am not going to let anything keep me from being all that I can be in God’s service. You may have made some mistakes that you are not proud of. Why not turn those mistakes over to God and let Him forgive you and begin living the life that God wants you to live? God loves you, I love you; and let’s go to Heaven together!

"Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses. And He lead them forth by the right way."
Psalm 107:6-7

If you have problems, don’t wait to take them to God. You cannot face your hard times alone. Ask God to intervene and give you wisdom. He will stand with you in each situation. Take all your problems and concerns to the Lord in earnest prayer.
