"Actions Live On"
By Glen Knabe As a boy I remember my family having the preacher who was in town holding a meeting for us over for dinner or taking him out to eat. Sometimes this preacher would have done some mission work and I remember listening to the stories he would tell of his travels. That made an impact on me. I didn’t understand the impact of it at the time, nor did I ever dream that I would one day be a minister, but I am thankful that my parents exposed me to those men. I am thankful that they took me out to knock on doors to invite people to our gospel meetings. I didn’t like it at the time, but by doing so, my parents taught me to work for the Lord. I remember my dad fighting with the old-time printer to run off bulletins. He would have that ink all over his hands. I was running around in and out of the building finding my own things to get into, but I remember the example. In Acts chapter twenty-one, Paul was on his way to Jerusalem and stopped at Tyre. He found the disciples there and stayed with them for seven days. Verse five of chapter twenty-one is a verse that every parent should let sink deep within the spiritual recesses of their minds. When it was time for Paul to go, "All the disciples and their wives and children accompanied us (Paul and his companions) out of the city, and there on the beach we knelt to pray." What an impact that must have been on the children. There they were on the beach with the apostle Paul, their moms and dads, probably with tears in their eyes, kneeling before God. That one verse speaks volumes about those parents who cared enough to bring their children along to witness and be a part of that great spiritual gathering. Imagine the things those kids heard during the seven days Paul stayed with them. I wonder how many of those children grew up to work for the Lord. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. I wonder what a godly action carried out by godly parents, captured with the camera of a child’s mind and locked into the photograph of their memory is worth. Only God truly knows the full potential of a godly parental example.

Righteousness on the Inside "A Word from Ryan"
A certain woman bought two identical Whirlpool freezers. Her husband, a devoted deer hunter, had once again over supplied the family. Early in her marriage she had objected to his obsession. She had said something about "killing Bambi." But year after year, he would continue to bring home more deer meat than she knew what to do with, so she finally caved and bought the freezers for the garage. To avoid finding an extension cord, she plugged them into different electrical outlets in the garage, and filled both with the meat they’d picked up at the processors. Then off the family went for a two week vacation. What she didn't realize was that one of the garage outlets had no juice. Seems they’d never actually used it since they moved into the house. So one of the freezers acted as a freezer; the other was just a storage shed. In early January, they returned, the family hungry for deer steaks. She stood before the Whirlpool twins. They still looked just alike. Both were shiny and new. But, as she was about to find out, on the inside they were very different. Open one and smell it and it was fine! But open the other, take a whiff, and die right there! It’s full of rottenness and decay. Jesus said that the Pharisees were a lot like that freezer, looking just right on the outside, but rotten to the core on the inside. God wants us to have a pure and clean heart. Matthew 5:8 says, "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God." David prayed for God to give him a clean heart and a right spirit in him (Psalm 51:10). I hope your heart is right before God and not rotten to the core. As I close, ask yourself, "Do I have a heart condition?" If so, why not take it to the Master Physician?

If you’re always in a dither with far too much to do, If your life’s a constant hassle And just too much for you, If you’re plagued and vexed with worries And life’s more than you can bear, Why not take it all to Jesus Silently in prayer? He’ll comfort, rest and soothe you, He’ll help you to unwind, And as an added bonus He’ll give you peace of mind. ~ Selected ~ |

Always
""Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness
be known to all men. The Lord is at hand ...""
Always is such an all-encompassing word. When we are steadfast with those we hold most dear to our heart, it creates a bond that cannot be easily broken. Let your family know you will always be there for them in all circumstances. (Selected)
