"Thank You God"
By Glen Knabe
With Thanksgiving coming this Thursday, (Can you believe it is already Thanksgiving? What happened to the rest of the year?) I’m sure that many of our thoughts are centered around family get-togethers and that wonderful food that God has blessed us with. What a blessing it is to have family! Well, in this time of thoughtful reflection on what God has done for you, I thought I would add a few others for your remembrance. Thank You God for ...

God’s existence ... the old rugged cross ... life ... tender hands erasing boo boos ... clean socks ... guardian angels ... stained glass windows brightened by early morning sunbeams . . . children to hug . . . being hugged by a child ... children ... candlelight ... a room entirely lit by sunlight ... sunlight ... light ... the Light ... the arrival of sweater weather ... cheese-cake ... examples ... prayer ... harvest ... harvested souls ... freedom ... grandparents ... people who love your children even though they don’t have to ... soft cotton T-shirts on infants ... the joy of catching a five pound bass ... rainbows ... holy wedlock ... fiftieth wedding anniversaries ... knowing the right answer ... knowing what to do ... knowing what to do next ... the name of Jesus Christ given to us to use ... doilies ... shouts of joy ... spontaneous praise ... the nail prints in Christ’s hands ... the scars on Christ’s back ... the thorn-pressed flesh of Christ’s brow ... the wounds in Christ’s side ... the blood Christ shed ... the sin Christ bore ... homecomings ... homes to come home to ... homemade stew ... laughter ... finally receiving the thing worth waiting for ... the bread of heaven ... the fruit of the vine ... scented candles ... honeymoons ... second honeymoons ... complimentary tickets ... compliments ... God’s answering when we knock ... God’s responding when we ask ... God’s revealing when we seek ... Thank You God!

From 10,000 Things to Praise God For - Jan Dargatz

Are You Valuable to God?                  "A Word from Ryan"
We are very aware of our own imperfections, we are often made to wonder, as did the psalmist, "Who is man that you are mindful of him?" (Psalm 8:4). We sometimes wonder how God could possibly still love us after all our sins? Maybe the answer to that question can be best understood by way of illustration.

stack of money Suppose I offer you a crisp, new, $100 dollar bill, would you want it? Of course you would. But suppose I crumpled the money up in my fist. Would you still want it? That wouldn't change your mind, would it? Well, suppose I then threw the crumpled $100 dollar bill on the floor and ground it into the floor with my shoe. Would you still want it? Well, of course you would. You see, whether crumpled or crisp, clean or dirty, the $100 dollar bill retains its value.

Likewise, it matters not to God how dirty we get from wallowing in sin, God still sees our value and wants to possess us. Friends, don't ever sell yourself short. Do you feel guilty for all your sins? Good! You should. But don't let your sins cause you to think that God no longer wants you. You are his creation, his offspring.

Christmas Gift

On December 6th, we will offer a Free Day to the members of our congregation. Recognizing that sometimes the best gift you can give to parents is a little free time, we will provide day long child care from 8am to 8pm on this date.  This program is a gift from the congregation to itself.  Any parent wishing to take advantage of this offer needs to notify the office directly or by dropping a note in the suggestion box letting us know the number and ages of your children.  Here is your chance, parents, to do your Christmas shopping, house cleaning, decorating, or just to have a little time to yourself.

Blessing

"And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land," says the Lord of Hosts.
Malachi 3:12

When people receive a gift, they usually cannot wait to tell everyone they know about it. Your children are one of God’s greatest blessings to you. Make sure other people know of your regard for them. Don’t keep their good qualities a secret. Speak of your blessings to others.
