The Same Yesterday, Today and Forever - Part 3
By Glen Knabe

When we look into the New Testament, what kind of God do we see? The same kind of God we see in the Old Testament. God has not and does not change. James 1:17 tells us that in Him there is no variation. He does not change liking shifting shadows. Throughout the ages, God has not changed the manner in which He deals with man. From the very beginning God has dealt with mankind by these three eternal principles:   g r a c e,   f a i t h,   and o b e d i e n c e.

For the past two weeks we have looked at examples from the Patriarchal and the Mosaic or Jewish dispensations. In both eras, God’s dealings with man have been constant. What about today? We are now living in the Christian age. Hebrews 1:1-2 says this: “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, Whom He appointed heir of all things, and through Whom He made the universe.” In the Patriarchal age, God spoke directly to the heads of the family, the patriarchs, such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. These are our forefathers of the faith. In the Mosaic or Jewish dispensation, God spoke through the prophets. Today, in the Christian age, God speaks to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, Who is the Word (John 1:1-3). Nothing has changed except the people who hear God and the medium through which God speaks. God still speaks to man and God still deals with man on the grounds of   g r a c e,   f a i t h,   and o b e d i e n c e.

In the New Testament we find that God’s grace came to us in the form of Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God. Through Jesus, a way of salvation was provided for all man. This was not deserved. On the contrary, this salvation came even as we were dead in our sins (Rom. 5:6-8; Eph. 2:5), and our sins deserve death (Rom. 6:23). This grace continues today through Jesus but only those that believe and obey can receive this grace that is given in Christ (2 Tim. 1:9). Three thousand believed and obeyed on the day of Pentecost and received God’s grace through Jesus Christ. The Ethiopian eunuch, the Philippian jailer, Lydia and her household, Cornelius, Paul, and others, believed what was told them about God’s grace. They obeyed what was told them about this grace and it is theirs to enjoy for all eternity. God deals with us the same today. Grace is extended to each of us through Christ’s death on the cross. God is now waiting to see what we will do with it, just as He always has.

Holden Avenue Church of Christ Youth Ministry Model:
T - Training youth to be followers of Christ
I - Imitating our Lord Jesus daily
       M - Ministering to others
E - Encouraging one another as we walk with God
Because we have only so much TIME with these kids, we try to mold and shape these teenagers' minds to live the way our Lord would have us live.  Ephesians 5:16 tells us "Redeeming the time, because the days are evil."  We should use our time to learn to walk in the joy and service of our King.

A Cappella Angels Ministry

A Cappella Angels was formed in the fall of 2000 by Rita Jones. It began with a group of young girls with a desire to sing. The girls created their own name in part because so many people has commented that they “sound like angels.” Currently, the A Cappella Angels meet on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 pm in the small auditorium. Jennifer Loftin, Beverly Skelton, Harriet Lane, Ethel Lewis and Evelyn Linvell help each week in addition to Linda Manning. Through the years many have donated money, as well as time and food to help with this ministry. Many of these girls bring their friends and they become a part of our congregation. Their families are also encouraged to attend the worship services and various activities. As these girls learn to sing together the words are “written upon their heart.” The girls are taught to thank God for their talent of singing and to give God the glory. They are encouraged in everyday situations to replace impure or frightening thoughts with words of a favorite song as commanded in Philippians 4:8. “Whatsoever is true, whatsoever is noble, whatsoever is right, whatsoever is pure, whatsoever is lovely, whatsoever is admirable ... think on these things.” 3 girl choir Overall, the purpose of the A Cappella Angels is to touch the heart of anyone who can be encouraged by music and by the smile of a young person serving others.

Bible According to Children

He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren’t embarrassed because mirrors hadn’t been invented yet. Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden. car Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn’t have cars.
