Thoughts on America
We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. US Flag But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!
(1809-1865) Abraham Lincoln

Bible vs Umbrella                   "A Word from Ryan"

umbrella and galoshes There is a story about a little boy who bought an umbrella.  He was told that this umbrella could keep him from getting wet during a rainstorm.  As he headed home in the rain, he held his umbrella under his arm.  However, as he drew closer to his house he was disappointed because he was soaking wet! Just as he was ready to get rid of his umbrella, the wind blew his umbrella open, and he realized that he had to open his umbrella for it to keep him dry!  Many Christians view the Bible in the same way that the boy viewed the umbrella.  It lies in the car or on the coffee table collecting dust.  Don't we realize that the Bible, like the umbrella, is useful only to those who open it and carefully look into its pages? Bible Acts 17:11 - "Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so."  One of the ways that we will build a lasting commitment to God is through studying the Word of God!  Are you in the Word?

Game of Life
Everyone wants a three point shot,
But a basketball game, life is not.
You shoot your best to reach your goal,
But you wind up hitting the pole.

basketball goal It may be your life is without HIM,
Have you noticed when you shoot
You always hit the rim?

I you really want your shot to score,
God can give you a whole lot more.
With all the love from God you will get,
You can shoot all day, and hit nothing but net!

basketball When you change your life
The Better it will seem,
This is because you have chosen
To be on the right team.

With God you can look at life and laugh,
Because you WILL win in the second half.
