Do People Notice?
Abraham & Isaac sacrifice
In Genesis chapter 21 an interesting thing happens. Abimelech, King of Gerar, and the commander of his army, Phicol, pay a visit to Abraham. Their purpose is to ask Abraham for a treaty. They see in Abraham something special. In Genesis 21:22 they say to Abraham, “God is with you in everything you do.” From the time God called Abraham out from his family into Canaan, Abraham followed God’s every command. He obeyed God even when it meant physical pain (Gen 17:23) or a personal loss (Gen 22:2). Abraham believed the Lord (and obeyed Him) and He created it to him as righteousness (Gen 15:6) Abraham was a man of God. He believed in God. He followed God. He obeyed God. God was with Abraham and others noticed. Abimelech and Phicol saw that God was with Abraham in everything he did. They took notice. What a testimony to Abraham! He was a godly man and people noticed.
If people in Newport were asked to describe you, would the first thing out of their mouths be “God is with him”? “He is a godly man?” “She is a godly woman?” Do people, non-christians, take notice of you because there is something different about you? If not, why not? Throughout the Bible, people notice those that follow God wholeheartedly. If people aren’t noticing us, could it be that something is lacking in our lives? Are we the ones people turn to when they need advice? Are we the ones people turn to when they want to know answers about God or the Bible? Do people of the world come to us when they want prayers for problems in their lives? People notice us alright, but do people notice God in us?
In Him,
Glen

So great is my veneration for the Bible, that the Bible earlier my children begin to read it the more confident will be my hopes that they will prove useful citizens to their country and respectable members of society.

Christ Makes Everything New                   "A Word from Ryan"

flower heart wreath "Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew and right spirit within me."
(Psalms 51:10)

Everyone likes fresh starts and new beginnings.  Take for example the start of a new year, we make plans, set goals, etc.  But the greatest "new start" of all comes through Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says: "Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a NEW creation; the old has passed away, behold the new has come."

If you need a new beginning in any area of your life, allow Christ to make you a new creation and the old will pass away! He will put a new and right spirit within you when you call upon His name!  Make your relationship with Him your number one priority. As you develop a relationship with Him through daily prayer and the study of His Word, you will experience the joy of newness of life!  I pray that we put God first and develop a deep personal relationship with the Lord

Lessons in Life By Regina Brett
  • Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

  • Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

  • Pay off your credit cards every month.

  • It’s OK to let you children see you cry.

  • However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

  • Everything can change in the blink of an eye but don’t worry; God never blinks.

  • Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.

  • Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

  • Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

  • Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.

  • God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.

  • Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

  • Frame every so-called disaster with these words: In five years, will this matter?

  • Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

Remind me God
Dear God,
When I am lonely and perhaps I feel despair,
Let not my ailing heart forget that you hear every prayer.
Remind me that no matter what I do or fail to do
There still is hope for me as long as I have faith in you.
Let not my eyes be blinded by some folly I commit
But help me to regret my wrong and to make up for it.
Inspire me to put my fears upon a hidden shelf
And in the future never to be sorry for myself.
Give me the restful sleep I need before another dawn
And bless me in the morning with the courage to go on.
