Ode to the Few

There are always a few who do a lot,
They teach or cook or mow when it's hot!
There is much more that needs to be done
But most of us think it would be no fun.
Use your talent to try something new,
The rewards will be more than a few!
Visit the sick or just call on the phone.
Let's all get out of our comfort zone!
God knows that the work is never done
But working together will make it fun!

Welcome

Welcome to the Holden Avenue
Church of Christ.   We are
especially glad that you are here.
We hope you enjoy your time
with us and come back to visit
real soon.   It is our hope that
you will find your time here
encouraging and beneficial.
If you have any comments,
questions, or prayer requests,
please share those with us.
We are here to minister to
you and your family.

Singing Is Important                                  "A Word from Ryan"

After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives (Mark 14:26).  On the most crucial night of Jesus' life, He ate the Passover meal with His disciples and explained the covenant He came to fulfill by saying the bread represented His "body that would be broken" and the wine as the "blood that would be shed on behalf of many."  Then He and the disciples went to the Mount of Olives to the Garden of Gethsemane.  There he agonized with God over His crucifixion that was to come, and made the choice to freely accept His role as sacrifice and Savior.  Yet, after eating the meal and partaking of the symbolic blood and body with his disciples, He sang a song with them before going to the Garden to agonize in prayer.  Singing is important and it has special meaning and value and imparts strength for facing even the greatest trials.  All through the scriptures the faithful are asked to sing in times of worship, cheerfulness and joy, grief and pain, and sadness and loneliness:  Come before Him with joyful singing (Psalm 100:2)Sing with the spirit and the mind (1 Corinthians 14:15)They sang a new song, saying, "Worthy is He" (Revelation 5:9). I encourage you to sing more and continue to follow the example of Jesus.
