A Tribute to the Bible Class Teachers

Bible School teachers are probably one of the most overloaded and taken for granted people in the church. Sunday after Sunday they give of their time and efforts----for free.

Even on those Sundays when their class seems more bent on mischief than on learning. And on those Sundays when nobody bothers to participate. On balmy Sundays when “spring fever” transports pupils’ thoughts far from the classroom. On those Sundays when a young pupil’s minor mishap becomes a major disaster, prompting a class disrupting flood of tears.

And on weekday evenings, when they give up a “night out” or some of their very scarce free time (that could be spent catching up on the ironing) preparing Sunday’s lesson. Or attending teachers meetings . . . Or calling on pupils whose attendance has slipped a bit.

In those hurry-up days, when folks never seem to have much time to help out with much of anything, these efforts ought to be doubly appreciated. All too often, they are not! The Bible School teacher is there most every Sunday, quietly doing the job in the best way known how with no fanfare and scant praise.

So we would like to pay tribute to those unsung heroes of God’s Kingdom. Your gift is the greatest of all ... a concern for others ... an unselfish desire to help ... a willingness to freely give your talents for God.

Paul tells us in II Corinthians 9:7, that “God loves a cheerful giver.” He must have a special love for Bible Class Teachers!

God is Awesome!                      "A Word from Ryan"

The God that we serve is truly a great and awesome God. Jesus on Cross I wish we would sing the song "Awesome God" more because He truly is awesome. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to save us from our sins (John 3:16-17)What is so great about God is that He offers forgiveness from our sins.  As Christians, we are not always going to live up to the way God wants us to live.  We are going to sin (Romans 3:23)We are going to "Miss the mark."  But the good news is, God doesn't strike us dead when we sin.  If we are truly sorry for the sins, we can go to God in prayer and ask for forgiveness and He will remove our sins as far as praying hands the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12)God offers us a mulligan, that is a chance to start over or to begin again.  When David sinned, he asked God to create in him a clean heart and to restore a right spirit within him (Psalms 51:10)When we sin, let's go to God for spiritual cleansing and restoration.  God loves you and I love you and let's serve Him every day and let's go to Heaven together!

An Opportunity to Serve

In recent days, an opportunity to serve has surfaced in Jackson County. On Sunday, September 23rd, at 4:00pm in the small auditorium, you are invited to learn more about this opportunity. Kim Black, a member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ in Searcy and Volunteer Coordinator for Hospice, will conduct a presentation on becoming a Hospice volunteer. As a Hospice volunteer, one is able to minister to the needs of those that are terminally ill, as well as to their families. These needs are often spiritual ones. The program is open to both men and women and Kim will be able to answer any questions that might arise after the presentation. This is ministry in its purest form, to look after the needs of others. By doing so, the seed of God’s word and His love are sown, and according to I Corinthians 3:6-7, God is the one who will make things grow.
