"His Heart Went Out To Her"
By Glen Knabe
“When the Lord saw her, His heart went out to her and He said, ‘Don’t cry.’ Then He went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, ‘Young man, I say to you, get up!’ The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.” Luke 7:13-15
What is it in your life that causes pain, pain to your heart? Is it sickness? Death? Could it be financial strain? Relations with family such as marriage problems, children problems, in-law problems? Emotional pain such as these come often in our lives. They come without warning. They sometimes come one on top of another, not adding to but multiplying the pain we feel. We often feel alone during these times in our lives. “No one could understand what I am going through,” one might say. “Why?” The question is asked by millions everyday. What is a person to do?
In the above passage I see a comforting thing. The woman mentioned is a widow and her only son had died. She was in emotional pain and stress. How much could she take? Verse 13 says that when Jesus saw her, His heart went out to her. In Mark it is recorded that Jesus saw the disciples straining at the oars in their boat (Mark 6:47-48). Why is this a comforting thought? Because Jesus sees our pain and our struggles and His heart goes out to us as well. When one is in distress, he or she has a need to relay their feelings and talk about what they are going through. Who is it they talk to? To ones who are compassionate enough to listen and to ones who, to some degree, understand what they are going through. Jesus is that one to talk to. His heart is going out to you. He understands perfectly because He Himself experienced the emotional and mental anguish that you felt or are feeling (Hebrews 4:15). Go to Him with your cares because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). What will be the result?
In the above passage, Jesus brought the woman’s son to life and gave him back to her. Jesus could do that today if it were His will. Even if He does not, He will still give your life back to you. He will take the pain, the hurt, the stress, and the anguish. He will resurrect your life from these parasites and give you peace once again. No one else we turn to could do that. He is still the miracle worker.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you.” I Peter 5:7

So True! "A Word from Ryan"
The other day, someone at a store in a small town read that a methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farm house in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical question. “Why didn’t we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?” Well, I did have a “Drug” problem when I was a kid growing up on the farm. I was “Drug” to church on Sunday morning. I was “Drug” to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather. I was “Drug” by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults. I was also “Drug” to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didn’t put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me. I was “Drug” to the kitchen sink if I uttered a profane four letter word. I was “Drug” out to pull weeds in mom’s garden and flower beds and cockleburs out of dad’s fields. I was “Drug” to the homes of family, friends and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one, to mow the yard, repair the clothesline or chop some fire wood, and if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, should would have “Drug” me back to the woodshed. Those “Drugs” are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack or heroin, and if today’s children had this kind of “Drug problem”, America might be a better place today!! And to that I say a hearty AMEN!!! ~Selected x

The Tuesday Morning
Ladies Bible Class The three main projects of the Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible class are: the annual lectureship (Ladies Day), sending care packages to our troops, and sending teaching materials to the Island of St. Vincent. In April we plan to host the 31st Ladies’ Lectureship!! This is a joint effort between the Sunday Morning and the Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible classes. Care packages are sent to our troops monthly and are also well received. We get many letters and cards from the recipients of the packages. In addition, we also mail literature donated by the Harding Book Store to St. Vincent. Because of their generosity we are able to sent three to four thousand dollars worth of materials for the cost of postage (which has gone up ramatically)!! Thanks to all the ladies and thanks to you for your generous donation of time and money for these good works. ~ Rovene Barron |

“If men of wisdom and knowledge, of moderation and temperance, of patience, fortitude and perseverance, of sobriety and true republican simplicity of manners, of zeal for the honor of the Supreme Being and the welfare of the commonwealth; if men possessed of these other excellent qualities are chose to fill the seats of government, we may expect that our affairs will rest on a solid and permanent foundation”
