"It’s Not Here"
By Glen Knabe
I have had the opportunity to speak to teens in many different places. In every place I have been, I have asked young people, “What do you want out of life?” Without exception the answer has been, “to be happy.” I imagine that our younger counterparts are a very good reflection of the adult world. We just want to be happy. Teens, who have not yet been released into the world do not have the responsibilities that adults do. They are able to enjoy the moment without much thought for the next. However, when they do look past the teen years into adulthood, what do they see? Generations in front of them that, on the whole, are very unhappy. And so when asked, “What do you want out of life?” they reply, “I just want to be happy.”
In Luke 24:5, during a time of deep distress, two angels appeared to the women at the tomb and asked, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” This question, I think, could apply to the thousands of millions of people in the world (including Christians) who walk around giving teens the impression that adulthood is less than desirable. Life is not found in the tombs of materials or the catacombs of wealth. Meaning is not found in the coffin of success or the grave of status and power. Happiness is not to be gained by climbing the ladder only to find lonely death at the top. No, life is not found among the dead or in what the world of the dead offer, but only in He who is the giver of life.
What teens are looking for, when they stop long enough to think about it, is what we are all looking for. It is up to us to show them where to look and it is up to us to show them by our overflowing joy and overwhelming happiness that it is worth finding.
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life.’” “Rejoice in the Lord, always and again I say rejoice.” | |

Sunday Morning Cradle Roll
Class Ministry
In the Sunday Morning Cradle roll to 2 year old class we do something different every week according to what mood the little ones are in. Sometimes they want to sit and listen, sometimes cry, sometimes fight, it goes on and on. We have a wonderful lesson plan (thank you Wanda) and we do our best to sing and talk to the little ones about Jesus. It’s amazing what they learn!! A special thanks goes to Mel Reid and Amy Rutledge for all their help.

Five Finger Prayer . . . continued
4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. Is should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers and night. You cannot pray too much for them.
5. And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, ‘The least shall be the greatest among you.” Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.
