"Spring" - Part 3
By Glen Knabe
What better way to describe the beginning of the Lord’s church than the above definition. It moved suddenly into existence. It was instantly conceived with 3,000 plus members. It moved suddenly and with power, with resilience. Many tried to repress the church; it could not be repressed (Acts 4:13-31). Others tried to persecute the church, it was scattered and spread so that it was now in more places than the original. It was like throwing water on a oil fire (Acts 8:1-4). One tried to destroy the church only to become it’s greatest warrior (Acts 8:3). The church is the kingdom described by Daniel as the Kingdom that will never be destroyed. It will endure forever (Daniel 2:44). Concerning the church, Paul said that it was the mystery of the ages (Eph. 1:9; 3:1-13). Peter said that the prophets searched intently and with the greatest care trying to find out the time and circumstances of that which they spoke through the Spirit. Even the angels longed to look into this mystery (1 Peter 1:10-12). As for Jesus, He said that Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing the day of Christ (John 8:56).
That which we are a part of is the single most powerful institution in the world. “If God is for us, who can be against us” (Romans 8:31). It is the greatest institution in the world for it was founded by the creator Himself, bought with the most precious of resources, and is the only means by which one may receive saving grace. Many have died in an effort to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Many others perished so that we could have the Bible written in our own language. Just think of the price that was paid, from it’s conception until now, for the gospel to be preached and the church to be established here and throughout the world. Do we even comprehend that which we are a part of? Every time a sermon is preached we follow in the footsteps of Moses, Elijah, Jeremiah, Peter, and Paul. Every time the scriptures are read aloud we follow the path of David, Solomon, Ezra, and Nehemiah. With such a beginning, with such a heritage, let us never be content to gather and sit, but let us rather scatter and spring.

Remember Whose You Are "A Word from Ryan"
In our daily walk as a Christian, the most important thing that we must remember is that we belong to someone, we are God’s children. John 1:12 - “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God.” Because we have done the things necessary to receive God, we are his children. To show that we are his children we must turn away from fleshly things that cause us to sin, or we show that we are not God’s children. Romans 9:8 - “Those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God.” We are told that because of God’s love, we can be called his children. 1 John 3:1 - “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” As Christians, we must do the things God has told us to do, or we will be no different than anybody else. 1 John 5:2 - “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.”
