"This Is How We Know" - Part 2
By Glen Knabe
“By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). Love is an indicator. Your gas gauge is an indicator that you need more gas. Your thermometer is an indicator to let you know what the temperature is. Your smoke alarm is an indicator that alerts you to possible danger. Love is an indicator of the Christian family’s unity and discipleship. It is an indicator to the people of the world. By it they can determine if we truly are what we say we are. It is also an indicator to ourselves.
John writes in 1 John 3:18-19, “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence.” This is how we know. What is this? Love. What do we know by it? If we belong to the truth. Do we love one another? Do we love with actions? Do I forgive when others upset me or do I hold grudges and not talk to certain people? Do I show my love and affection with warm smiles and hugs to everyone, even visitors? Do I show my love and concern for those that are sick by saying I will pray for them or by personally sending them a card or going to see them? To love is more than to say it or believe it. To love is to show it and carry it out and love in action is the indicator to the world that we are His disciples. It is also the indicator to ourselves that we love God and are in the truth. John says in 1 John 4:20, “If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.” So dear children, as John would say, love one another.

The Lord is My Shepherd
A Bible class teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible, Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the verses. Little Bobby was excited about the task, but just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line.
“The Lord is my shepherd and that’s all I need to know!”

Temptation "A Word from Ryan"
We all face temptations every day of our lives. One thing that is certain for us as Christians is, we will be tempted until the day we die. A friend of mine back in Mississippi once said that the temptation to sin is a “Storm that Is Never-ending.” Even Jesus our Lord faced temptations. We know for sure that He was faced with turning stones into bread, jumping off the top of the temple, and bowing down before Satan (Matthew 4:1-11).
