$1 Bill Meets $20 Bill

A one-dollar bill met a 20 dollar-bill and said, "Hey, where've you been? I haven't seen you around here much."  The twenty answered, "I've been hanging out at the casinos, went on a cruise and did the rounds of the ship, back to the United States for awhile, went to a couple of baseball games, to the mall, that  kind of stuff. How about you?" The one dollar bill said, "You know, same old stuff, church, church, church."

  ANABLEPS                  "A Word from Ryan"
Anableps are commonly called “four-eyed fish.” They have been uniquely created by God to see two images at once. Each eye has an upper and lower cornea and retina which enables the fish while swimming at the surface level to see and feed on insects while watching below for larger fish which would eat them.

Maturing in Christ also demands double vision. We must live with our eyes set upon heaven to not lose focus of our destination and to constantly learn of God’s way. At the same time we must live being aware of an enemy and “watch” for his destructive ways. How well are you doing at developing double vision?

Looking Above
“...and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith,” (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Looking Below
“Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

We need direction and nourishment which comes from above. Are you focused on God? Do you want to go to Heaven more than anything on earth? Does the time you spend studying the scriptures prove you value the Bible (the roadmap to God)? Do you believe hell exists and Satan wants us there? Do you believe he is deceptive and must be watched? Let’s develop double vision for growth and survival!

Nursing Home Services

elderly lady with younger lady Once each month Holden Avenue
holds worship services at each nursing home. The Newport Health-
care service is held on the second
Sunday of the month at 3:30pm
and the Lindley Healthcare service
is the third Wednesday at 10:30am.
If you are available at either time,
please consider participating. Some residents
there have very few visitors and this is a great
encouragement to them.

Prayer on the Church Steps

Jesus Praying You are invited to join with
Christians around the country
in prayer for our nation and for
the upcoming presidential election.
We meet each Thursday at
12:15pm under the shade tree
beside the church building and
invite you to bring a lawn chair
and enjoy the freedom that we have to pray
openly without fear of being persecuted. If
you are not able to attend, please remember
to join us in prayer wherever your are.

Confess Christ ... Matthew 10:32 - Be Baptized ... Mark 16:16 - Live faithfully ... Revelation 2:10

While walking in the checkout line at the store, I noticed an elderly woman who was struggling to stuff her groceries into a net shopping bag. I offered to help and we chatted while I repacked her purchases. Before I returned to my place in line, she took my hand in hers and, with a warn smile, said, “My compliments to your mother.”
