THINKING FACETIOUSLY!
Have you noticed how many improvements "almost all-knowing" man has made in the world since God created it?
Superior knowledge in the business world has improved the economy so that many no longer have to earn their food by the sweat of their brow.
The social sciences have improved on God's ordained union of one man and one woman in marriage. Just about everyone knows that the union of two women or two men in marriage can be a great improvement on God's arrangement.
In the societal evolution of things we have even discovered that it is an improvement to allow a woman to privilege of deciding if her unborn child should live or die. In addition, God is way behind on a standard of morality. The moral absolutes He put in place are no longer valid. It just won't work to say that stealing or lying are always wrong. Everyone knows there are times when it is best for all concerned to lie, except, of course, when under oath in a court of law or a Grand Jury investigation.
It is preposterous to believe that sex outside of marriage between two or more consenting adults is wrong. After all, didn't God make us sexual beings? Why then would He legislate when or with whom we should engage in sex? God is so miserably out-dated. He is so far behind that it doesn't seem likely He will ever catch up. So what should we do? Discard God as a hopelessly out-of-touch deity?
Perhaps our prayers should focus on petitioning God to see things our way. Maybe we should launch a massive prayer campaign to re-educate God in our new and improved school of thought, embraced by modems.
Of course, I am speaking facetiously! But I am putting into words exactly the way a great many people think and act today. God and His standards have been blatantly cast aside in favor of our so-called advanced societal mores.
Who do we think we are? Who gave us authority to replace God or His word? If our modem ways are so much better than God's, why is it no longer safe to take a leisurely walk down the streets of our major cities? Why are violent crimes on the increase? Why are our prisons bursting at the seams? Why is there so much poverty in this advanced economy? Why are unwanted pregnancies and abortions on the rise?
I'll tell you why! Because our modem ways are not an improvement on God's ways! God said through the prophet Isaiah over 2,500 years ago, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways ... for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts " (Isaiah 55:89).
The truth is, and history will bear it out, that man without God never progresses, but always digresses. Modem man's presumed advances are taking us down the road of self-destruction.
It's time for believers to stand up and say so (Psalm 107:2). Our lives should be a constant testimony to our faith, even in the face of insurmountable odds. If we don't defend and practice our faith now we may lose the right to legally do so later on.

Eileen Madden had a staff infection that set her back some, but is now on the mend again. She is still in room 413 ICU at UAMS.
Tommy Bain was to get to come home Saturday, but due to rapid heart rate he is staying over the weekend at UAMS in Little Rock.
We extend our sympathies to Dolly Middlebrook, of Tupelo, who lost a daughter. She is a neighbor of Kathleen Hunter.
While talking to God about all those who are suffering from various illnesses, remember to thank Him for all His blessings - showers of them this past week, just to mention a few.
